ELICOS Re-registration in 2024
Navigating the ELICOS re-registration process has changed significantly since late 2023. If you manage an ELICOS college, understanding these changes is crucial to ensuring a smooth re-registration with ASQA.
Previously, ELICOS colleges needed to submit an online form via ASQAnet three months before their registration expired. This process involved providing basic information and uploading a few pieces of evidence, including the Fit and Proper and Statutory Declaration forms. Additional information was rarely requested, as the initial submission was generally sufficient speaking from my personal experience.
Since November 2023, however, ASQA’s process has become more detailed. The requirement to submit three months before the registration expiry date has not changed. However, after submitting your re-registration application, you can expect a brief meeting with ASQA. Following this, they will email you a comprehensive list of required evidence, which could cover everything from enrolment to completion of studies, including third-party agreements listed in your PRISMS.
One of the main challenges with this new process is the urgency of ASQA’s timing in requesting the evidence. After the meeting, you typically have only a few days to a week to provide the requested evidence. This tight timeframe can be manageable if your documentation is consistently up-to-date and compliant. However, for colleges without a dedicated compliance officer, it’s wise to conduct an internal audit to identify and rectify any areas needing improvement before submitting your re-registration application, especially if you are not confident with your evidence documentation.
To ensure a smooth re-registration process, start preparing at least six months before your current registration expires. Conduct a thorough review of your compliance practices to identify and address any gaps. This proactive approach will not only help you meet ASQA’s requirements but also boost your confidence in running a compliant and successful ELICOS business.
By staying ahead of the re-registration process and maintaining rigorous compliance standards, you can ensure that your ELICOS college continues to thrive. Knowing that you are in good standing with ASQA provides peace of mind and a strong foundation for your business.
